Lennox and Addington County are located in the Eastern Ontario subregion of Southern Ontario. Although she was born in Belleville, Ontario, L&A is where popular musician Avril Lavigne started her music career.
The original counties, Lennox and Addington, named after Charles Lennox, 3rd duke of Richmond and Henry Addington, 1st viscount Sidmouth, were formed for electoral purposes in 1792.
In 1860, Lennox and Addingham were formally amalgamated into one county called “Lennox and Addington.”
